Misfat Al Abriyeen is a mountainous and historical village, located 1000 meters above the sea level on the foothills of the Jebel Shams Mountain. It is situated in Ad Dakhiliyah Governate and 7 Km away from Al Hamra. The village also offers a beautiful view to the valley.
It is a lush village sitting in a desert region. The village has derived its name from Al Abri Tribe having migrated from Al Hamra. They maintained prosperity in the area by building houses and agricultural farms.

In general, it is a 6-kilometer route and takes you about 3 to 4 hours to walk through it. However, this time depends on your speed and physical strength.
This hiking route ends to the deserted houses at the vicinity of which there is a small beautiful waterfall. Visiting this waterfall is a great end for an ideal hiking.
Al Hoota Cave, a Touristic Natural Attraction around Misfat Al Abriyeen
Al Hoota Cave, with 200 million years of antiquity, is the oldest cave in height of Jebel Shams Mountain. This limestone cave is 4.5 Kilometers long, 500 meters of which is accessible to the public. In addition, there are 4 lakes in the cave in which a kind of blind rare fish lives. This feature has made this natural attraction world famous.
Wadi Ghul, the Deepest Valley in the Middle East
Wadi Ghul, known as the Grand Canyon of Oman, lies near the Jebel Shams Mountain. The valley, some parts of the which are 1 kilometer deep, is a popular destination for hiking. It is the deepest valley in the Middle East and the second largest one in the world after Arizona Grand Canyon.
The start point of the valley is an abounded valley, formed on the foot of the Jebel Shams. The route leads to an area known as the Jebel Shams Balcony. The area offers you a spectacular view to the nature of Wadi Ghul Valley.

Among the other traditional dishes cooked in Eid Al Fiter, one can mention a dish of lamb meat. In order to cook the dish, locals collect palm logs and burn in a pit to get some special charcoal. Then they bury the pot in which there is lamb meat in the charcoal pit for 2 days. Finally, the food is cooked slowly and get prepared for the guests.
