On this journey you will be on the trail of old and new Iran. In addition to the classic sights that Iran has to offer, you will also get to know the ancient history of the country. You start your journey in the Iranian capital Tehran and then continue to the northwest and then further south around Tabriz, the famous covered bazaar, in Isfahan the Islamic architecture, which characterizes many buildings and the cityscape, in Shiraz the old Persia and to see nomad life in Chelgerd. The colorfulness of this trip is second to none and it gives a very good picture of the reality of Iran. You have to have driven the varied route and after this trip you will be able to tell a lot about your exotic trip.
Arrival in Tehran
You will be met on arrival at IKA Airport and transferred to the hotel.
Tehran-Tabriz
Proceed your sightseeing in Tehran by visiting Saad Abad Palace; the residential site of two former kings of Iran, which was also the host of Tehran Conference in 1943. Then explore Tajrish Bazaar. This bazaar, in which people do their daily shopping, offers a variety of crafts, goods, fruit and foodstuffs. In the evening, you are transferred to the airport for your domestic flight to Tabriz.
Tabriz-Kandovan-Takab : 389 km
Depart Tabriz for Takab. On the way, go for a stroll in Kandovan Village, a rocky village in which you can find the houses carved in the rocks. Then visit Historical Grave Towers in Maragheh.
Kermanshah-Bisotun-Hamedan : 187 km
Drive from Kermanshah to Hamedan. On the way, visit Taq-e Bostan, where you can find the series of large Sassanid-era rock reliefs which demonstrate crowning ceremony of Sassanid kings, haunting and playing harp. Afterwards you will visit Bisotun Inscription in which you can find many historical treasuries such as the inscription of Darius the Great and Hercules Sculpture. Then you make a stop in Anahita Temple in Kangavar, the temple of Iranian goddess of water. Finally, stand on the vantage point of Abbas Abad Hills, and enjoy the beautiful view of the city.
Hamadan-Chelgerd : 460 km
Depart Hamadan for Chelgerd. On the way, make a stop in Khomein to visit Imam Khomeini’s house, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Then, visit Googad Citadel dating back to about 400 years ago.
Chelgerd-Isfahan : 180 km
In the morning, depart Chelgerd for Isfahan. on the way visit Dimeh Spring. In Isfahan, you will enjoy strolling along Zayandehrud River.
Isfahan
Continue your sightseeing by visiting Chehel Sotoun Palace, the public palace of Shah Abbas, featuring miniature artworks from Safavid court and important historical events. Next, head towards Naqsh-e Jahan Square, the second largest historic square of the world, which is surrounded by a number of the most important monuments of the Safavid era including Imam Mosque, one of the exquisite jameh mosques of Iran, which was constructed by the order of Shah Abbas and features amazing tileworks ; Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, belonged to the women of the king and lacks minaret and courtyard ; and Ali Qapu Palace, the first multi-story palace of Iran, from whose terrace Safavid kings watched the military march and important events taking place in the square. This palace includes many miniature works belonging to Iranian and foreign artists. At the end, take some leisure time in the afternoon.
Yazd
Enjoy your sightseeing in Yazd by exploring Towers of Silence, also known as Dakhma, the round structures on top of a tall mountain. Zoroastrians used to put the corpses on top of the towers to return them to nature without pollution. Head towards Zoroastrian Fire Temple, a temple that holds the sacred fire for several years. This structure was constructed about 100 years ago in Yazd by the Association of the Parsi Zoroastrians of India. Afterwards, visit Water Museum, a traditional house, located at the center of Yazd which displays the construction and operation of qanats. Then you proceed to Amir Chakhmaq Square, the major historic square of Yazd, which was constructed in the 15th and functioned as a Tekyeh. Your next exploration is Jameh Mosque of Yazd, located in the historic district of Yazd, features the tallest historic minarets among Iranian mosques. At the end, you stroll in the Historical District in Yazd, the first adobe city of the world, featuring spiral narrow alleys. These neighborhoods are still inhabited.
Shiraz
In Shiraz, you explore Nasir-ol-molk Mosque ; one of the few private mosques of Iran that was constructed in the 19th century. Owing to a different architecture and colorful tiles, this mosque is also known as Rose Mosque. Afterwards, you visit Narenjestan e Ghavam Garden ; a magnificent 19th-century mansion which was utilized to do official tasks and serve guests. Next, you proceed your sightseeing to Hafiz Tomb, the burial place of a great Iranian Poet (lived in the 14th century) who inspired well-known poets like Goethe. Finally, you end the day by visiting Ali Ibn Hamzeh Holy Shrine ; which features an onion dome and stunning mirrorwork and strolling in Vakil Bazaar ; a roofed bazaar with a domed structure that was constructed in the 18th century and is considered as the most important traditional bazaar of Shiraz.

Tehran
Start your day by exploring Tehran including National Museum of Iran, in which you see an overview of different Persian dynasties, each of which has a number of exhibits. Then head for Golestan Palace, listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a brilliant example of an important period in the history of Persia where the society starts a new era of modernism. The last site to visit in Tehran is National Jewelry Museum of Iran where you can see a collection of dazzling royal gemstones, especially Daria-e Noor (literally means the sea of light).

Tabriz
This day will be dedicated to the discovery of Tabriz, a historical city dating back to 4500 years ago. First, you visit Archeological Museum of Azerbaijan, the major archaeological and historical museum of Tabriz. Then head for Blue Mosque, a masterpiece of Iranian decorative tile work. Your next exploration will be Constitutional House in which you can find statues, images and historical documents that depict the constitutional history of Iran. At the end you will go for a stroll in Grand Bazaar of Tabriz, listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Takab-Takht-e Soleyman-Kermanshah : 392 km
Depart Takab for Kermanshah. on the way, visit Takht-e Soleyman, the most distinguished social center and temple in pre-Islamic era, which was in the peak of prosperity and power in Parthian and Sassanid era. On the way, make a stop to visit Jameh Mosque of Sanandaj.
Hamedan
In Hamedan, you get attracted to the rich history of Iran. Start your sightseeing by visiting Ganjnameh Inscription (literally means treasure book), a set of cuneiform characters written in three languages including the edicts of Achaemenid kings. Next, head toward Avicenna Tomb where a great Iranian scientist and physician is buried. Afterward, proceed to Stone Lion of Hamadan, constructed by Alexander the Great in the honor of his general. Then visit Esther and Mordechai Tomb, known as the most important Jewish site of Iran. At the end, visit Ecbatana, chosen as the Medes’ capital in the late 8th century BC by Deioces.
Chelgerd
In the morning, go for a stroll in Chelgerd and visit Sheikh Ali Khan Waterfall and Chama Ice Cave if possible. Then stroll in Kouhrang Valley and discover nomadic life of Bakhtiari.
Isfahan
Today, you explore Jameh Mosque of Isfahan, one of the five historic jameh mosques of the world that well displays Islamic architecture development. Then proceed to Si-o-se Pol and Khajou Bridges, constructed in the 17th century by the order of Shah Abbas which connect the old town of Isfahan to Jolfa Quarter. The most significant one is Si-o-Se Pol Bridge which leads to Chahar Baq Street and Khaju Bridge where the celebrations were held. Then head for the Vank Cathedral, one of the most amazing Armenian churches of Iran, which contains the most important Armenian museum of Iran. It is an Apostolic Armenian Center. At the end, visit Grand Bazaar of Isfahan, a roofed bazaar belonging to the 16th century. At present, it is the most significant handicraft bazaar of Iran.
Isfahan-Naein-Yazd : 325 km
Depart Isfahan for Yazd. On the way, make a stop in Nain and visit Jameh Mosque of Nain, a mosque with more than 1000 years of antiquity, having been characterized architecturally with a single minaret and underground shabestan (prayer hall), and Kavir Anthropology Museum, this 17th-century house which used to be the residence of Pirnia, the governor of Nain, has converted to a museum. Afterwards, head for Meybod and visit Narin Castle, one of the biggest surrounded adobe cities of Iran, constructed in multi stories and including Sassanid trenches.
Yazd-Pasargadae-Shiraz : 452km
In the morning, depart for Shiraz, the city of love and poetry. On the way, make a stop in Abarkouh and visit Aghazadeh Historical Mansion, dating back to the 19th century, is the only house in the world with 2-story windcatchers. Then proceed to Pasargadae, the first palace complex of Persian Empire which became an inspiration for Persian Garden. Pasargadae, the dominion center of Cyrus the Great, is also home to his tomb.
Shiraz-Persepolis-Tehran : 130 km
In the morning, go on an excursion to Persepolis, the most important political capital of Persian Empire, founded by Darius the Great. This site includes a number of palaces such Apadana Public Palace and Hundred Column Hall. You proceed to Naqsh-e Rustam, the royal necropolis of Achaemenid emperors which is located close to Persepolis. This site is home to a number of Sassanid reliefs. On the way back visit Quran Gate; in the past, all the large cities of Iran had a gate on top of which a Quran was placed to let the travelers pass under Quran before traveling. In the evening flight you will be transferred for your flight to Tehran.
